Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large very ripe banana peeled
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup

Instructions

  • Add the ripe avocado, banana, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, sea salt, ground cinnamon, and maple syrup to a small blender or mini food processor.
  • If the mixture seems too thick to process smoothly, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of water or non-dairy milk to assist with blending.
  • Blend until the mousse becomes entirely smooth and creamy, with no visible lumps remaining.
  • Taste the mixture after blending and assess the sweetness.
  • For a sweeter result, incorporate an additional teaspoon of maple syrup and blend again briefly. A very ripe banana will usually provide enough natural sweetness on its own.
  • Spoon the mousse into a serving dish or storage container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour if a colder, more set texture is preferred.
  • Serve chilled, or enjoy immediately for a quick chocolate treat.

Notes

A fully ripe banana is important for natural sweetness and the best texture.
A splash of water or non-dairy milk may be used only as needed to help the blender run smoothly.
The mousse may be eaten right away, though chilling gives it a cooler and slightly firmer consistency.
