Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground garlic powder
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar light or dark variety
  • 5 cans 14.5 ounces each of sliced green beans, thoroughly drained
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 slices of bacon cooked until crisp and crumbled

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat the interior of a 9x13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray or a thin layer of oil.
  • In a frying pan set over medium heat, cook the bacon until browned and crisp. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease, then crumble once cooled.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Whisk until the mixture becomes smooth and cohesive.
  • Spread the drained green beans evenly across the greased baking dish. Drizzle the prepared sauce over the beans and gently toss to ensure the beans are well coated.
  • Evenly scatter the crumbled bacon over the top of the green bean mixture.
  • Place the dish uncovered into the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the sauce becomes bubbly and thickens slightly.
  • Serve hot for a dish that balances savory depth with a hint of sweetness.
