Ingredients

Cheeses:

  • 6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese sliced
  • 6 ounces pepper jack cheese or a similar flavored cheese sliced
  • 6 ounces Parmesan Gouda, or Asiago cheese, sliced
  • 6 ounces manchego or Gruyere cheese sliced

Marinated Mozzarella:

  • 8 ounces mozzarella balls or bocconcini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

Meats:

  • 8 ounces salami
  • 8 ounces prosciutto
  • 8 ounces ham
  • 8 ounces peppered salame

Crackers and Bread:

  • 2 cups pretzel crisps
  • 2 cups artisan crackers or seeded crackers
  • 1 French baguette sliced and toasted
  • 1 clove garlic

Other Accompaniments:

  • 1 cup roasted assorted nuts
  • ½ cup black olives artichokes, or pickles
  • 1 bunch of grapes
  • ¼ cup fig jam onion dip, or grainy mustard
  • Dried fruits optional

Instructions

  • Combine the mozzarella balls with olive oil and Italian seasoning. Allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight for enhanced flavor.
  • Slice the baguette, brush lightly with olive oil, or use cooking spray. Toast in a 400°F oven for 6-8 minutes until golden and crisp. Remove and rub each slice with a whole peeled garlic clove for a touch of flavor.
  • Prepare the cheeses by slicing them into appropriate portions. Rinse and pat dry the grapes to ensure they are fresh and clean.
  • Place small bowls on your charcuterie board for dips, olives, or any ingredients with liquid components.
  • Artfully arrange the meats, cheeses, and crackers around the board, ensuring a balanced and appealing layout.
  • Add fresh fruits and nuts to complement the meats and cheeses. For a finishing touch, include fresh herbs to introduce a pop of vibrant color.

Notes

  • For advance preparation, loosely cover the charcuterie board with plastic wrap and refrigerate until needed.
  • Any platter or plate can serve as a substitute for a traditional charcuterie board. Alternatively, consider creating individual charcuterie cups for convenience.
  • Estimate approximately 4 slices of meat (3 oz), 2 oz of cheese, and a selection of crackers, bread, and pickled items per person.
