This hearty bake blends classic cheeseburger flavors with the comfort of crispy fries in a single oven dish. A seasoned beef and cheese mixture is layered beneath golden fries and topped with melty cheese, making it an ideal pick for a quick dinner or casual gathering.
In a large skillet set over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onion until fully cooked and the onion has softened. Discard any rendered fat from the pan.
Stir in the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, ketchup, and mustard. Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and fragrant.
Add the cheddar cheese soup and half of the shredded cheddar to the pan. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spoon the beef and cheese mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
Evenly distribute the shredded mozzarella over the beef layer.
Arrange the frozen French fries in a single, even layer on top of the cheese.
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the fries turn golden brown and crisp.
Remove from the oven and scatter the remaining cheddar cheese over the fries. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
Allow the bake to cool for a few minutes before serving. Add your desired garnishes just before plating.
Notes
Customize the toppings to your preference for a fully loaded effect—classic burger fixings like lettuce, tomato, and pickles work especially well.
