Enjoy this timeless Peach Cobbler recipe, a simple yet delightful dessert that you can whip up from scratch using fresh or canned peaches, making it a year-round favorite!
5peachespeeled, cored, and sliced (approximately 4 cups)
3/4cupgranulated sugar
1/4teaspoonsalt
For the batter:
6tablespoonsbutter
1cupall-purpose flour
1cupgranulated sugar
2teaspoonsbaking powder
1/4teaspoonsalt
3/4cupmilk
Ground cinnamon
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced peaches, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir gently to mix. (If using canned peaches, skip to step 3.)
Heat the peach mixture over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the peaches release their juices, then remove from heat and set aside.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Meanwhile, cut the butter into pieces and place them in a 9x13-inch glass baking dish. Put the dish in the preheating oven to allow the butter to melt. Once melted, carefully take the dish out of the oven.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the milk, stirring until the ingredients are just blended. Pour this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish, spreading it into an even layer.
Evenly distribute the peaches and their juices (or canned peaches, if using) over the batter. Generously sprinkle ground cinnamon on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 38-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the batter is set.
Serve the cobbler warm, optionally topped with a scoop of ice cream for added indulgence.
Notes
If substituting canned peaches, use a 1-quart jar of peaches, undrained.
