Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 1 and ½ cups self-rising flour
  • 1 and ½ cups packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 and ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup whole milk add more if necessary
  • 1 and ½ cups hot water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish or casserole and let it melt in the preheated oven.
  • Once the butter has fully melted, scatter the pecans evenly over it.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir gently to blend, but avoid over-mixing the batter.
  • Pour the batter evenly over the butter and pecans. Do not stir or mix the layers.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar across the top of the batter, ensuring an even distribution. Again, refrain from stirring.
  • Carefully pour the hot water over the entire mixture without stirring.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the top becomes golden brown and the cobbler is set.

Notes

Best served warm, and optionally, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
