Ingredients

  • pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 white onion diced
  • 1 jalapeño diced with seeds removed
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese shredded
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Slap Ya Mama seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and jalapeño over medium heat until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender. Add the Slap Ya Mama seasoning, garlic powder, cumin, black pepper, and red pepper flakes, stirring to combine. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  • Wipe the skillet clean, then pour in enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Heat the oil over medium-high heat.
  • Using tongs, place one corn tortilla at a time into the hot oil, flipping it quickly. Add a layer of shredded cheese, a portion of the meat mixture, and an additional sprinkle of cheese to one side of the tortilla.
  • Fold the tortilla in half and continue frying until the taco is crispy and golden on both sides.
  • Remove the taco from the pan and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  • Arrange the tacos on a serving platter and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
